Margaret Agnes (Smith) (Schwalm) Fitch, 88, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away with her daughters by her side on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Brookdale Memory Care in Battle Creek, MI. She was born on October 9, 1927, the daughter of Robert Nicholl and Mary (VanSyckel) Nicholl.
Margaret was raised in Battle Creek by Clyde and Ruth Smith and a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School in 1945. She worked at Kellogg's in the Traffic Department, the office of Consolidated Trucking Company, WVOC Radio Station and J.C. Penny. In 1976 she moved to Florida where she continued working for J.C. Penny in the office at Sunshine Mall until her retirement in 1990. While in Florida she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, Clearwater Beach and her many friends. Margaret moved back to Battle Creek in 2010 residing with her daughter Margaret. She attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Marshall, MI.
Margaret married Robert F. Schwalm in June 1948, they had three children: daughters, Carol A. (Gordon) Casey of Hastings, MI, Margaret "Peggy" A. (Michael) Bradley of Battle Creek, MI and deceased son, Robert M. Schwalm. This marriage ended in divorce. She married Robert A. Fitch who passed away in 1999. Margaret is survived by 7 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and Special Friend Ed Koon of Marshall, MI.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11 AM.
