Obituary for Lois Eileen Harris (Hughes)

Lois Eileen Harris, 90, of Battle Creek Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Pineview Assisted Living surrounded by her children and her devoted sister Amber Baker. Lois was born on November 16, 1927, the daughter of Merwin Hughes and Estella (Clark) Hughes.

Lois met the love of her life, Jim Harris on a blind date. After a brief courtship, they were married on February 6, 1949. Together they raised five children. Jim and Lois attended Emmett Street Missionary Church and North Avenue Church of God. They enjoyed spending time in their RV, especially winters in Florida and Texas. Lois delighted in caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and gardening. Lois was in awe of God’s creation and loved walking in the woods and on the beach.

Lois had a deep and abiding faith that filled her heart and actions with love. All those who met her were touched by that love.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, James Guy Harris, her sister Merla Kidney, and brother, Orland Jack Hughes. Lois is survived by her sister, Amber Baker, her children: Sue and Rodger Ball, Tom and Sally Harris, Steve and Kathy Harris, Carol Braden, and Tim and Paula Harris.
