Obituary for Dorothy Goodwin

Dorothy Sue Goodwin, 77, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at home. She was born on May 5, 1940, the daughter of Charlie B. Childress and Mary Lucille (Johnson) Childress.
Dorothy worked at Martin Vogt Plating as well as at United Steele and Wire doing production until her retirement. She enjoyed attending the 20th street Church of Christ when she could. She loved to volunteer at the Community Action Food Bank and was very passionate about feeding those in need.
Dorothy is survived by her two Daughters, Karen (Chester) Losey; Sindy Taylor; Son, Richard Goodwin, II; 15 Grandchildren; 19 Great-Grandchildren; three Sisters, Mary (Paul) Kozlowski, Bonnie Bridgeman, and Rebecca (Marvin) Cantrell; two Brothers, Gailen (Brenda) Childress, Ralph Childress, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brothers, Charles "Sonny" Childress, Lonnie "Runt" Ray Childress, and Lester Childress, and her Son, Kenneth Adams Jr..
Dorothy enjoyed going to the movies, crocheting, and knitting. She absolutely loved to use her crafting abilities to create beautiful homemade with love gifts for her entire family. This years Christmas included slippers, dishtowels, pot holders, and scarves. Dorothy had a heart of gold and her family made her world go round. Dorothy also loved to read and she would bust through books faster than they could be provided for her. She will be sorely missed by all those she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Tuesday January 9, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 1:00 pm.
Interment will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made directly to Dorothy's family.
