Obituary for Harriet Jane Caswell (Harding)

Harriet Jane Caswell, 71, left us on Thursday, March 22, 2018, with her family by her side at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Harriet was born on November 5, 1946, in Battle Creek to Ernest and Sarah (White) Harding. Her father was a corporal in the United States Army and her mother was a homemaker. They were childhood sweethearts and married August 29th, 1946. Harriet was the last living sibling, preceding her in death were: Arthur Harding, Norma Harding, Chester Harding, Margaret Harding, Frances Parker, and Ruth Phillips.
Harriet worked at Lakeview General Hospital as a nurse's aide until she was unable to work due to a heart condition. She had a unique sense of humor and often referred to herself as "The Dirty Old Lady." Anyone that really knew her would say that she could definitely make you laugh and feel comfortable because of her easy-going personality. She loved playing games and was not happy when she lost. She lived for the love that she had for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Harriet would put others before herself in any situation and would share anything that she had with others. She was a kind, caring woman and leaves behind her five children: Kathleen Potter, Richard Caswell, Dewey Caswell Jr., Sandra Knott, and Charles Caswell. Nine Grandchildren: Sarah Caswell, Tara Caswell, Dewey Caswell III, Anthony Caswell, Jospeh Akers-Caswell, Amanda Collins, Scott Shive II, Brianna Caswell, Charles Caswell Jr. along with several Great-Grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Overflow Church and hardly ever missed a Sunday to praise God and worship with her community and church family. She would always say that her brightest day of the week was Sundays when she attended church and felt rejuvenated. Harriet will be deeply missed but her memory will live forever within us.
