Obituary for George Ernest Berkimer

George Ernest Berkimer, 78, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at home. He was born on May 5, 1939, the son of Robert Berkimer and Mildred Pearl (McGee) Berkimer.
George graduated from Bellevue High School in 1959. He worked at Eaton Corp for 39 years. He was a former member of the Eagles and numerous bowling leagues until his health prevented him to continue.
George is survived by his children, Lynn (Donna) Berkimer, Carolyn (Allan) Lynd, Terry (Ginger) Berkimer, and Michele (Jerry) Henker; Grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve), Bryan, Kyle (Jessie), Westley, Amanda (Brendan), Crystal (Hadley), Andrew (Karisa), Cory, Kayla, Christopher, Jeffrey, and Sean (Roxy); 15 Great-grandchildren; Step-Children, Danny Taylor, Dar (Jim) Riley, Jimbo Taylor, Missy Taylor and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Brother, Bobby (Leah) Berkimer; Sister, Maryann Botimer, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruth Ann Berkimer; second wife, Wilma Berkimer; sisters, Alice Harris, and Inez Cummings.
George was a master at tinkering. He loved to stay busy and he enjoyed going outdoors and splitting and chopping wood. He was also a fire bug and loved a good fire going. George loved nature; he enjoyed watching the birds, deer, and any critters going about their days. He also enjoyed caring for and watching his plants thrive. He was an easy going wonderful man with a heart of gold and he will be missed dearly by all the lives he touched.
