Robert “Bob” Raymond Young, age 81, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016.
Bob was born June 23, 1934 in Battle Creek, the son of Orvil H. and Elna M. (Martin) Young, who predeceased him. He was a well-respected lifelong resident of Battle Creek.
He honorably served in the United States Armed Forces. After his time in the service, he joined the Battle Creek Township Police were he proudly served his community for many years.
He was a member of the First Assembly Church in Battle Creek.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed the pleasure of reading and had many favorite authors. His greatest passion was baseball. He was one of Detroit Tigers most loyal fans. He played growing up and took his love for the game with him while managing and coaching little league baseball.
On September 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Patricia E. (Ryan) Young, who survives. He is survived by his children, Kathy Young, Deborah Peck, and Robert Young; grandchildren, Kevin (Jessica) Young, Amanda (Casey) Jelinek, Shawn (Nicole) Young, Brandon Young, Christopher (Audrey) Young, and Sarah Peck; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Young and grandchildren, Michelle Young and Ryan Young.
He was a beacon of courage and strength for his family. His memory and guidance will live on through many of the people closest to him.
