John S. Moe, 76, of Vicksburg passed away at home June 16, 2016 surrounded by his family. John was a resident of this area since 1963. He was a brilliant and honest man, who fought a tough battle with cancer (Multiple Myeloma) for nearly five years.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Fritz) Moe; his daughter Tamarah (Steve) Roth of Scotts, 2 sisters Ruth (Wayne) Landon of Freeport and Janice Conklin of Hastings; 4 grandchildren Courtney (Andy) Wyant of Comstock, Brandon (Dee) Cousins of Allegan, Brittany Bish of Lansing and Josh Roth of Portage; 1 great granddaughter Adrienne Briseno.

John’s favorite pastimes were gardening, traveling, and spending time with family. He was very active in several Christian churches in the immediate area ushering for many years. He was a very loving, understanding father who was always there when needed. He was the most selfless man and was always giving to others. He never wanted us to know the pain he was in and always had a smile. His grandchildren and great-granddaughter were special in his life, and there was no one better to be an aspiring role model. He loved to swim with them, build tree forts, and play games. John was a gentle man whose contagious smile and kind heart was felt by all.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Sjur and Margret Moe, siblings Marian Higgins, Selma Brownell, Jacob Moe, Joyce Murray, Agnes Moe, Joan Totten and twin sisters Eva and Neva.
