Phyllis Yvonne Settles, 65, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on July 18, 1951, the daughter of Clarence R. Settles and Elizabeth A. (Armstead) Settles.
Phyllis graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. After school she began her family. She was known as the neighborhood mom and doted on all of the children.
Phyllis is survived by her life long partner of 37 years - Charles S. Walker; two daughters, Shanay Autumn Settles and Shannon Lei Settles; son, Shaun Lee Settles; 12 grandchildren, Shane Settles, Shayla Settles, Julice Haggerty, IV, Shakir Settles, Ajani Wilson, Tyberius Settles, Svante Settles, Shalaycia Settles, Shawn Settles, Julius Settles, Kashmere Settles, and Taja Thomas; brother, Kevin Settles and a host of other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jacalyn Korti, and Toni Nance.
Phyllis enjoyed watching all types of television. She also loved to read, listen to music and crossword puzzles. Her family was her world; she loved to spend time with them, especially her grandchildren. Her love for them was poured out in her cooking. Phyllis had a big heart and was willing to help anyone if they asked. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
