Phyllis Arlene (Scoby) Wasson, 88, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Reflections Memory Care. She was born on August 5, 1928, the daughter of Wendell John Scoby and Mae Violet (Belles) Scoby in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Phyllis attended several Battle Creek Public Schools graduating from Lakeview High School in 1946. She worked at Kellogg's for 39 years before retiring. She was a proud member of the Kellogg 25 year club.
Phyllis was married to Jack Lee Wasson on June 29, 1963 who preceded her in death on March 25, 2015.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Larry) Hausman and step-son Tim (Cindy) Wasson; sister, Eunice Kline; three grandchildren, John (Debbie) Hausman, Lori (Steve) Schanzenbaker, and Ryan (Lyndin) Wasson; great-grandchildren, Emily and Haylee Hausman, Abby, Lydia, and Mallory Schanzenbaker, and Ripley, Beckham, and Sage Wasson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a step-son, Rodney Wasson.
Phyllis loved flowers and gardening. She enjoyed crocheting and quilt making many afghans, and quilts as she traveled. These became treasured family gifts. Phyllis and Jack enjoyed traveling all across the U.S. and Canada, and they developed a love for antiques together. They refinished many furniture pieces and restored them back to the original condition. They started a business named The Old Store which was located at 132 Division Street in Battle Creek and did many antique shows in Michigan. After retiring, they moved to Marble Falls, Texas where they resided for 17 years. They continued doing antique shows across the south and west before moving back to Battle Creek in 2013 to be closer to their children. Phyllis has been living at the Reflections Memory Care in Battle Creek since 2013 where she was lovingly cared for by their exceptional staff. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
